Serban Toader has been re-appointed Senior Partner of KPMG in Romania and Moldova for a second mandate. Toader was first appointed as Senior Partner in 2007.

“I am delighted to be confirmed in this position for a further term. The success of KPMG in these difficult times is a result of the strong performance of the staff and partners, and a consequence of a very impressive client portfolio. I thank them all.” Toader declared.

As Senior Partner, Toader oversees the firm’s governance and strategy, represents Partners’ interests and is the firm’s market and international contact. Toader’s first term showed cumulative growth, together with a wide diversification of services, while the last financial year ended September 2010 saw a turnover increase to 34 million euros, despite the overall difficult economic conditions. As Toader comments: “Our good results are particularly encouraging at a time when overall the consultancy market has shrunk. This means that not only have we grown our turnover, but crucially we have also retained the confidence of the market and clients in times of considerable uncertainty.”

“Serban has given strong leadership during turbulent times, and has encouraged a spirit of innovation in the company, which has been a major factor behind the firm’s continued growth” says Frank Dostalek, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of KPMG in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). “I am pleased to see that Serban will carry on his mandate for another term and I am confident that the firm will continue its growth over this next period, while offering high-quality services to our clients.”

For the future, Toader is optimistic about KPMG’s prospects in Romania. He added: “The economic climate remains uncertain, and it is still early to talk about recovery as far as Romania is concerned. However, KPMG has continued to perform well because we have anticipated market trends and adapted our services to meet our clients’ changed needs in the present time, as well as focusing on their likely future requirements. I’m looking forward to continuing to support our clients and increase our portfolio as Romania now begins to emerge from recession. One of the things I enjoy most about being at KPMG is that we work well together as a team. There’s an optimism I see every day among my colleagues, and we’re certainly ready for the upturn!”

Serban Toader is a Member of the Board of KPMG in CEE and has several prestigious academic qualifications, including an Executive MBA from Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees, Paris as well as diplomas from University of Edinburgh School of Management, London Business School and Harvard Business School. Toader is a Vice President and a Member of the Board of the Foreign Investors Council, an association of leading foreign investors in Romania established in 1997.
