ECJ: Banks no longer have to pay VAT when selling non-performing loans

Following a recent decision of the European Court of Justice (ECJ), banks will no longer have to pay VAT when selling non-performing loans to other entities, such as foreign subsidiaries, other banks or factoring entities. VAT will be due only when there is a factoring service agreed between the parties.
